What To Do With Left Over Whipped Cream
- I had made a second German Chocolate Blueberry Vinegar Cake, and had a ton of heavy whipping cream whipped up, with vanilla and sugar, leftover.
- It was dairy and in my fridge
- So dangerous
- I love to buy dairy
- I love to eat dairy
- I also neglect dairy
- And foster fuzzy green coat factories
- So I felt the burden of this whipped cream sitting in my fridge.
- I tried eating it by the spoonful when I got home from work...
- And that was heaven, til it wasn't
- I found it was so rich, that after a couple days I was driving home slower to avoid it
- 101 traffic already, at it's fastest, moves at 8 miles an hour
- So, not good
- I was getting closer to a large output of fuzzy scarves.
- So what did I do?
- I googled it.
- I love googling things, it still blows my mind that I can do this.
- When I was a child it was a "ask mom" thing,
- And my mom doesn't cook or bake
- So by the time I found an answer
- The whipped cream would've knitted a series of fuzzy hats
- I found a recipe for cream scones
- Now I had heavy cream, already whipped with sugar and vanilla
- But if I didn't add sugar...maybe I could make a variation of it work
- Below is the recipe that resulted
- Gather together:
- Heavy Whipping Cream already Whipped with sugar and vanilla
- 2 tsp of Baking Powder
- A Bit of Salt
- 2 Cups of Flour + Enough to flour a surface and put into the pan you'll bake with
- Table Knife
- Spatula
- Glass Pie Pan
- Tin Foil
- A little milk if needed (depending on how much whipped cream you have)
- Pre-heat the oven to 425
- Add 2 cups of flour into the bowl
- A bit of salt, I normally pour it into my hand to see how much I'm adding
- Add 2 tsp of baking powder
- Stir together dry ingredients
- Add in half the whipped cream
- Stir your mixture; should look a bit raggedy
- Add in the rest of the heavy whipped cream
- Mine came out looking a bit dry. So I added a bit of milk.
- Line a glass pie pan with tin foil...
- I don't have many baking dishes so this just happens to be what I bake most of my stuff in.
- If you have a proper sized glass square pan, please use that instead
- Turn out dough on a floured surface
- Kneed for 30 seconds
- Trying to take a picture of this, turned out be very difficult.
- Let's just say, good thing I buy industrial cases for my phone
- Pat into a rounded shape
- Take the table knife and cut in half
- Cut the halves in half
- Cut the fourths in in half
- Sprinkle a little flour in your pan
- Place the biscuits in your pan (square or round)
- Put in oven (which was preheating at 425)
- I set my timer for 12 minutes
- But only then realized that it looked very dirty for a picture
- But here is the photo of my dirty timer, because I tried to clean it it, for a better second photo.
- And it turns out to be pretty stained
- And yes that is the screen partially peeling off
- Mine wasn't done after 12 minutes.
- So for my oven it took 16 min.
- I topped mine with little left over whipped cream and some blueberry vinegar jam
- And brewed a good strong black tea
- Then realized I still had too much of the whipped cream earlier in life and couldn't eat them this way,
- so I ended up sharing them with friends.
- No fuzzy mittens were made! So Success!
