30 Days of Intensive Music Learning
Nope I’m not fasting from my I-Pod for thirty days. The truth is I don’t have one, or an MP3 player of any sort. So, this is about my musical education in a thirty day span.
What?
-A thirty day experiment
-Taking a clueless listener (me) and teaching her finer points of the music world
Why?
- I don’t own an I-Pod making me woefully behind my peers
- Hot bands and big singers frequent the LA area playing their fabulous tunes sometimes for free
- When others bring up singers that are not and 80s rock group, DC Talk, The Ws, the Beatles, or the Monkey’s, I may actually engage in conversation with them
- The brain space that holds my dad’s Best Hits of Abba cds (that were listened to, on repeat, during long car drives), may finally have a chance to be filled with something else.
- My mixed tape from middle school is a now a tangled mess in a drawer at my parent’s house
- I can’t find my walk –man (you heard me, I didn’t own a disc-man)
Who?
- A host of better informed friends who actually have
o lps, cds, and mp3s on their shelves,
o go to concerts,
o and some have studied the subject at MI
- These super star friends may get mentioned by name or by an alias depending on their choosing as we go along.
- You, if you want to leave a comment or a suggestion on how to better my education feel free
- If you know me really well, and want to be an official educator e-mail me
How?
- Friends have offered to inform me when bands are playing that are essential to my education
- Friends will share MP3s with me that I will then turn into mixed CDs and will listen to in the car on the way to work
- I will report back here what does or doesn’t happen
When?
-The experiment in theory will last for thirty days, but with Christmas, and Thanksgiving coming up there will probably be dead patches that will not end up in the final count.
-The actual kick off will start after I had my first lesson, so keep a look out for that blog.
